Acts as a supportive member of the team who performs delegated tasks within the scope of education and training in the areas of supportive listening, educational group leadership and specifically assigned patient care tasks, especially in the areas of physical intervention, safety, and maintenance of therapeutic milieu.
Sonographer Registered/ Maternal Fetal
- Performs ultrasound type procedures and examinations with guidance from the physician as needed.
- Exerts independent judgment and interpretation of the anatomy they are scanning.
- Inventories all supplies and safety equipment for its availability and take appropriate action when indicated.
- Ensures compliance of documentary guidelines of ultrasound scans and other medical records as pertains to the imaging procedure or examination i.e., patient consent forms when appropriate, and patient clinical history data.
- Participates in ongoing charging of procedures at the completion of the ultrasound examination.
- Confirms patient ID by verifying name and DOB against chart or form prior to any services.
- Critiques all images for proper quality and documentation; monitor and maintain QA standards as outlined by departmental guidelines.
- Ensures quality control standards are followed during complex and difficult examinations that may require initiative and independent judgment to acquire.

- Is responsible for quality measure outcomes and coordinating/overseeing associated improvement efforts.
- Supervises RN/Improvement Advisors and RN/Clinical Documentation Specs directly.
- Prioritizes (but not limited to) Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) publicly reported measures.
- Improvement efforts include (but are not limited to) chart reviews, root cause analyses, clinical documentation improvement (CDI) coordination, coding and patient access, care pathway development, and new process implementation coordination.
- Liaises between medical staff members, leading quality measure development and tracking for medical staff group contracts; collaborates with the physician advisor (Physician/EC [Emergency Center] (JC: 001901).
