Provides direct supervision of Surgical Support Technicians and general assistance to OR staff. Acts in a leadership role assuring that the SSTs are performing duties as assigned and drives efficiency of the Operating Rooms. The SST supervisor provides work assignments, coordinates and oversees workflow and activities of the SST’s on a daily basis. Coordinates activities with the OR manager to assure that work is prioritized in a manner that supports immediate unit needs. Performs orientation for new SST’s, provides input as to individual performance. The SST supervisor drives performance to meet the goals of the Operating Room leadership. Assures that infection control processes are followed and maintained for areas of responsibility. Acts as a mentor and role model to the OR team.

Surgical Support Technicians

Required Education:

HS/GED required; Preferred: 2 years technical or college education

Required Experience:

Minimum: One (1) year experience as a Surgical Support Technician or comparable position; two (2) years’ experience in a leadership role preferred

Required Certification/License/Registry:

BLS certification required
