Regular Surgical Care Unit (SCU) staff member. Assists (under nurses’ supervision) in caring for SCU patients. Works with physicians and hospital staff members in caring for patients having total joint replacements or other orthopedic surgeries. Maintains orthopedic devices and supplies. Sets up and maintains polar packs, walkers, crutches, slings, immobilizers, shoes, braces, boots, and dressings. Ensures equipment and supplies are present and operational in the SCU. Ensues orthopedic devices are properly sized and positioned. Ensures orthopedic devices’ maximum therapeutic benefit through setting up devices, evaluating treatment effectiveness, and
educating patients and staff members. Performs miscellaneous duties
Educations:
High school diploma (or equivalent)
Experience:
Two (2) years of relevant work-related experience (e.g., Orthopedic Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) experience).
