HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT

Your Role:

  • Functions under the Director/Pharmacy’s (JC: 011301) philosophy; ensures the coordination, quality, and cost effectiveness of Sterile Compounding (department 1710) operations provided in Pharmacy Services at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, Inc. (TMH).
  • Manages infusion therapy for patients served by TMH’s Pharmacy Services, hospital, and ambulatory care units; ensures Pharmacy Services’ infusion operations’ coordination, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Assists the Asst Dir Pharmacy-Ambulatory with overseeing Infusion Pharmacy operations; is accountable to the same for the Sterile Compounding/Infusion pharmacy areas (including human resources (HR) and budgeting).
  • Enhances pharmaceutical care, develops clinical programs, and analyzes data to assess program-associated outcomes; develops and implements process improvements and corrective actions.
  • Collaborates with the Quality and Safety Team on pharmacy events; investigate deviations and review batches for compliance with United States Pharmacopeia (USP) General Chapter <797>, "Pharmaceutical Compounding--Sterile Preparations" (USP <797>) and USP General Chapter <800>, "Hazardous Drugs--"Handling in Healthcare Settings" (USP <800>) standards.
  • Ensures accurate logs of controlled substances and compounding records; develops and manages master formulation records.
  • Responsible for effective communications and teamwork between TMH leadership, and Pharmacy Services; serves as a national spokesperson; represents, communicates, and promotes TMH’s inpatient pharmacy services to other providers, administrators, legislators, researchers, and others (as needed).

SupervisesSterile Compounding Tech Supvr , Pharmacist Sterile Compounding, and Pharmacy Technician IV/Cert.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO APPLY

Required Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited pharmacy school.

Preferred Education: 

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree (or equivalent experience). 
  • Accredited post graduate year one (PGY1) and two (PGY2) residencies completion (or comparable experience).

Required Experience:

  • Three (3) years of relevant licensed pharmacist work experience (including one (1) year of inpatient pharmacy supervisory experience).
  • Human Resources (HR) may accept a successfully completed postgraduate year two (PGY2) administrative residency in lieu of the required three (3) years of relevant licensed pharmacist work experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Advanced training in business, public health, health administration, pharmacy administration, and/or ambulatory care pharmacy. 
  • Research project experience with presented and published results. 
  • Global understanding of specialty pharmacy and pharmaceutical public policy. 
  • Knowledge of pharmacy services cost justification principles and methods. 
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, principles, standards, and practices related to pharmaceutical care provision. 
  • Philosophical understanding of pharmaceutical care. 
  • Creativity for developing and integrating innovative pharmaceutical care services. 
  • Concentrated interest in pharmacy administration. 
  • Philosophies and professional goals compatible with those of Pharmacy Services (department 7070) and the Director/Pharmacy.

Required Certification/License/Registry:

  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as a pharmacist in accordance with Florida Statutes (F.S.), Title XXXII (Regulation of Professions and Occupations), chapter 465 (Pharmacy), Sections 007 through 013.
  • Compounded Sterile Preparations Certificate for Pharmacists from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) or Board-Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacist (BCSCP) credential from the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) within one (1) year post-hire.

Preferred Certification/License/Registry: 

  • Board-Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP) credential from the BPS or a similar credential.
