Responsibilities

Your Role:

  • Assists the Chief/Public Safety, performing a variety of management functions in security planning/implementation, loss prevention, traffic parking policies and procedures, and security staff activities coordination for safeguarding hospital property.
  • Directly supervises subordinate personnel.
  • Ensures Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare’s (TMH) emergency management and security plans meet The Joint Commission (TJC), state, and federal standards, regulations, and competencies.
  • Directs emergency preparedness activities, maintains emergency policies and procedures, and provides training to staff members.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with emergency management communities.
  • Supports construction and renovation projects.
  • Assists the Support Services division.
  • Uses information technology (IT) to perform duties and maintains IT skills.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties not expressly described herein.

Reports ToChief/Public Safety (JC: 110901)

SupervisesPublic Safety/Security Officer (JC: 080607) and Public Safety/Transport Ofc (JC: 080907)

Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in emergency management, criminology, public safety, or a related field

Preferred Education: Master’s degree in emergency management, criminology, public safety, or a related field. 

Required Experience: Four (4) years of experience working with healthcare leadership

Preferred Experience:

  • Four (4) years of healthcare safety program experience.
  • Knowledge of project management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of organizational skills.
  • Complex problem-solving abilities.

Required Certification/License/Registry: None.  

Preferred Certification/License/Registry: 

  • Florida Certified Law Enforcement Officer credential.
  • Certified in Security Supervision and Management (CSSM) credential from the International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO).
  • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) credential from the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM).
  • Certified Healthcare Protection Professional (CHPA) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).
