HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT

Your Role:

  • Under the Chief Physicist’s direction, performs interpretive, patient care, and technical functions to ensure proper radiation oncology treatments are delivered to oncology patients.
  • Displays an understanding of diversity.

  • Enhances and contributes to a safe environment for all colleagues, visitors, and patients.
  • Runs radiation therapy virtual simulations, designs treatments, distributes doses, and calculates dosages.
  • Assists Chief Therapist/Rad Oncology (JC: 237401), Radiation Therapists (JC: 044702), and other staff members with implementing treatment plans.
  • Participates in patient care and staff conferences.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assists with quality assurance (QA) activities.
  • Maintains dosimetry area supplies.
  • Provides educational opportunities within Radiation Oncology (department 7050).
  • Performs miscellaneous duties not expressly described herein.

  • Chief Physicist (job code (JC): 243402)

Supervises:

  • None

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO APPLY

Required Education:

  • Associate degree in medical radiation dosimetry or a related field (e.g., biology or physical science).

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical radiation dosimetry or a related field (e.g., biology or physical science). 

Required Experience:

  • Three (3) years of directly related work experience.
    • Human Resources (HR) may accept relevant, job related, post-associate degree education in lieu of required experience on a 1-year: 1-year basis.

Required Certification/License/Registry:

  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) credential from the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB).

Preferred Certification/License/Registry:

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration.

Special Hiring Provision:

  • Current Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) colleagues (i.e., employees) may be hired into this job classification under a contract to complete the necessary training and earn the required credential(s). 
  • To be considered for such a contract, colleagues must meet the following minimum qualifications:
    • Employment: 6,240 hours (three (3) years) of work at TMH.
    • Education: Associate degree in medical radiation dosimetry or a related field (e.g., biology or physical science)
    • Experience: 6,240 hours of Radiation Therapist (JC: 044702) experience
    • Credentials: Certified as a radiation therapy technologist in accordance with Florida Statutes (FS), Title XXXII (Regulation of Professions and Occupations), Chapter 468 (Miscellaneous Professions and Occupations), Part IV (Radiological Personnel Certification). 
    • ARRT registration.
