HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Director, Colleague Learning and Development (Dir/Colleague Learning/Develop), teaches basic and advanced life support certification programs and assists in setting up and coordinating courses. Responsible for teaching electrocardiogram (ECG (or EKG)) theory and practice to all levels of clinical and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel. Utilizes considerable knowledge, experience, and skills in EMS and critical care theory and practices.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO APPLY

Required Education:

  • High school diploma (or equivalent).
  • Successful completion of an approved paramedic course. [Human Resources (HR) may accept an associate degree in nursing in lieu of the high school diploma (or equivalent) and successful completion of an approved paramedic course

Required Experience:

  • Two (2) years of EMS paramedic field experience, including ECG/EKG teaching experience. [HR may accept two (2) years of EMS, emergency room (ER), or intensive care unit (ICU) registered nursing experience (including ECG/EKG teaching experience) in lieu of two (2) years of EMS paramedic field experience.]

Required Certification/License/Registry:

  • Certified as a paramedic in accordance with Florida Statutes (FS), Title XXIX (Public Health), Chapter 401 (Medical Telecommunications and Transportation) Part III (Medical Transportation Services).
  • American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) instructor certifications. [HR may accept licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in accordance with FS, Title XXXII (Regulation of Professions and Occupations), Chapter 464 (Nursing), Part I (Nursing Practice Act) in lieu of paramedic certification.]
