Job Summary:

• Leads functional teams and/or projects.
• Oversees others’ work but does not directly supervise.
• Recognized/serves as a social work expert.
• Utilizes a specialized depth and/or breadth of social work expertise.
• Works independently; receives guidance in only the most complex situations.
• Interprets internal or external issues; recommends solutions and/or best practices.
• Solves complex problems utilizing a broad perspective to identify solutions.
• Multi-disciplinary team member.
• Assesses and treats patients/clients with emotional and behavioral problems.
• Provides social work services to patients/clients with behavioral, social, financial/economic, and environmental problems.
• Interviews patients/clients and their families.
• Evaluates, and understands the social and emotional factors underlying patients’/clients’ illnesses; identifies their psychological needs, goals, and treatment preferences; coordinates a range of services; and facilitates individualized case management.
• Provides clinical counseling and individual therapy to help patients/clients make positive behavior changes.
• Assists patients/clients in treatment planning.
• Provides direction to clinical team for implementing treatment plans.
• Provides crisis intervention services to patients/clients and families.
• Advises family caregivers; provides case and care management or interventions designed to promote health and prevent disease.
• Provides patients/clients with information and counseling; makes referrals for other services.
• Maintains contact with patients/clients to assist in adjusting their needs through use of medical facilities or referral to outside supportive agencies.
• Performs discharge planning responsibilities.
• Participates in social and health programs in the community.
• Assists with staff orientation, education, and training; assesses needs, develops materials, and monitors/reports progress.
• May travel to patients’/clients’ homes to render services.
• Performs miscellaneous duties.
• Progression to the lead level is restricted based on business requirements.

Supervises: None

Required Education:

• Master’s degree in a mental health specialty (e.g., Master of Social Work, Master of Mental Health, Master of Mental Health Counseling, or Master of Marriage and Family Therapy) from an accredited university

Required Experience:

• One (1) year of relevant job-related post-master’s degree work experience.
